Karen Lafferty, best known for the classic worship song "Seek Ye First", continues to sing, lead worship and mentor young musicians at YWAM and Musicians For Missions International in Santa Fe, New Mexico - and beyond, having toured the UK early in 2009. This album opens with the self-penned title track, a gentle rock arrangement which features Harlan Steinberg's superb Hammond B3 organ. Of course, "Seek Ye First" is included, opening with a haunting Celtic flute. The other track by Karen herself is the gently lilting "God's In This Place". The other nine tracks include a contemporary arrangement of Wesley's "O For A Thousand Tongues" and a number of newer songs with publishing credits in Santa Fe, which I guess are by some of Karen's students and friends at Musicians For Missions. "Worthy" is a new song to me but sounds like a future worship classic - it's going on our church's song sheets, that's for sure! These songs have been produced with great skill by Jonathan David Brown, weaving Karen's pure vocals with the talents of some great musicians and backing singers and presenting them in a way that could easily be used in any worship setting or used by a music group to learn some new songs. The arrangements never get in the way of the vocals but complement them perfectly. This is a truly uplifting album, thoroughly recommended.
