A follow up to the earlier ‘Old Hymns My Mom Loves’, this is acoustically recorded hymns featuring the guitar and voice of Kate Miner augmented by a sparse selection of other instruments as required. The result in the hands of a lesser talent would no doubt be a very cheesy experience as Kate covers material like “Old Rugged Cross”, “In The Garden” and “Rock Of Ages”. However there is something about the passion of her performances, the sheer emotional power of her voice and the sensitive arrangements that turn this CD into something of beauty. All in all, that’s quite an achievement! When you think of the number of mediocre hymns albums that swamp the market, this is a gem indeed.
