Kathryn Marquis debut CD has been described as "A cross-genre worship experience carrying the listener through the depths of the human condition and unseen realms of passion and grace, into the very heart of God", and as "Prophetic worship and soaking; a fresh sound for changing atmospheres and opening glory encounters." Whether or not the claim that these songs are Heaven's music declared on earth or "an invitation to come up into new realms with God" are Biblical or true, get beyond the often unhelpful mystical/spiritual language that shrouds 'The Door Is Open' and what you have is a fairly good, well produced worship album that just occasionally goes into territory that distracted this reviewer from Jesus rather than pointed to him who is the only one who makes God known. Do we need to follow Kathryn up 'Moses' mountain' or go with her to the 'river bank with the spinning wheels above' or 'come up Jacob's ladder' to meet with God? Um. . . nope, not according to Jesus anyway. "Soul Cry" and "Shadow Of Turning" work as confessional tracks that see us as recipients of grace from a holy God in Jesus. "Purify" is heartfelt but drenched in ancient Biblical metaphors, while "Amazing" takes us to Revelation and John's vision of worship at God's heavenly throne, a recurrent theme on the album. "Third Heaven Revelation" is the most problematic track "Kathryn's unrehearsed, unedited retelling of a profound vision experience in worship", a mish-mash of ideas and images from Old Testament prophets and Revelation mixed with Marquis' contribution. It's seven minutes long and frankly, a bit distracting. Despite the claim that this is "more than a CD; it is an experience of the Lord", I can't help thinking that no, like all the music reviewed on this site, it's just a CD. Kathryn is clearly a gifted singer and worship leader with a powerful testimony and a call to minister, but this CD lacks clarity.

Product Description

“Burning inside the heart of man there is a hidden mystery; a flame of passion, even a Soul Cry for deep union with God. My prayer is that you will come with me to a new place of worship, even into Third Heaven Revelation, and there encounter Jesus, ready to purify all that you offer Him.

“May you become captivated with how beautiful, how lovely He is, and find that without fail, in Him, there is no shadow of turning. May you lift up your eyes toward destiny and feel the winds of God fresh on your face once more, to experience again a new dimension of His amazing love. Beloved, come now, The Door Is Open.”
