One thing this classy set demonstrates with crystal clarity is that Kathy has a magnificent voice, one able to deftly caress a lyric in a breathtaking display of dynamics and sensitive phrasing. On this set she adds jazz phrasing to her impressive vocal armoury and with her Sarah Vaughn-style interpretations of a set of Christmas standards and jazz accompaniments classily produced by Larry Day and Kathy Troccoli, this is definitely one for the sophisticates among us. Unfortunately, its Christian message is rather muddled. Too many cheesy songs about winter wonderlands and chestnuts roasting on an open fire for this reviewer.
