How anyone can be taken seriously in the cut-throat music industry when their surname rhymes with 'broccoli' remains a mystery to me, but Kathy Troccoli seems to have done OK, with a career spanning over 16 years, nine albums, three mainstream top 10 hit singles and a Dove Award.  'Corner Of Eden' is her latest offering, and marks a departure from the previous.  As Kathy says, "My (earlier) albums used a lot of synthesized sounds.  Nathan (P DiGesare, producer) challenged me on that - he held nothing back".  Unfortunately, this seems to be the album's undoing: it just seems too over-produced.  With three of these songs weighing in at over six minutes long, and with the theatrical vocals, rich orchestration and swirling strings of many of these tracks, it comes across as something from a Lloyd-Webber musical.  Some tracks do stand out - there's a beautiful rendition of Psalm 23, for example, but, for the most part, it doesn't sit quite right for my ears.

I saw the music video for opening song "A Different Raod"; I really liked this song!: nice instrumental intro for the song, wtg KT! The follow up "At YOUR Mercy" is another fave. Great choir on "He Will Make A Way". Kathy was co-writer for every song on this recording; the music for the songs seems to be on another level, different from that familiar ccm sound.
I didn't get that soul grabber feeling as with the songs on "Pure Attraction". "Psalm 23" seems to stand out above most, as well as"A Different Road": I love Psalm 23, thanks KT. "Goodbye For Now" with it's poignant style, could be used for a movie theme.
It's nice to see Kathy still going strong after many years. GOD Bless! -Don
