Great name! I've always had rather a weakness for marzipan... Anyway I digress! This CD is an "enhanced" CD, which basically means when you shove it in your pc you get more than just audio tracks. In fact, what you get is a humourous video of the band recording and the lyrics for all for songs which when clicked actually plays the track - clever! It also has a contact menu which links to email and the website. As far as the music is concerned, they class themselves as pop/punk and is very much in the Busted/McFly/Rasmus axis. Four songs on offer here then; First song with the snappy title of "Newsong" is about putting trust in God not ourselves. Second song "Blue Tux" is about grace of God to us when we foul up - a message we all need to hear. The last two curiously entitled "Albert" and "Edna" respectively and both continue the same theme of depending on God for guidance and grace. Lead singer John has a good voice, venturing into falsetto on Edna, and the music is very good all round really, with chunky, jangly guitars, interesting bass and solid drums. However, as is the case with so much product that finds its way into Crossrhythms' offices, is the target market for it. The band are young, (all under 20), and show great potential here.
