Brummie Keith Slater has brought 16 of his songs into the 21st Century with the release of this DVD with his band Inheritance. Did I say 16 songs; sorry, actually it's 19 songs because you get three bonus solos thrown in for good measure! The recording is set in the 14th century church of St Editha's in Staffordshire before a small, intimate audience. I was a little worried when I saw this privately made DVD but I was pleasantly surprised by the production and the quality of the mix. Keith is an experienced musician having played in many bands over the years (Mike Sheridan And The Nightriders and The Brazil Band which won the British Country Music Association award in 1991). Here you see him shining in a new light with Mark Willis and Ian Price (Kairos) as Inheritance. Singing a selection of their best known songs "Lead Me On", "Get It Right" and "Water From The Rock", they invite you to sit back, join in or just watch and enjoy the performance. Personally, I would have left out their version of "Spirit In The Sky" as this is a song I really do not like. However, they perform well together as a band and do justice to all the songs. It would have been nice to see a live drummer rather than the drum machine, even that had been well programmed. To finish, you can watch an interview with Keith and the boys which is interesting to the last.

Many thanks Brian for your kind review. I do think that you need to remain a little more objective though. ie 'Spirt in the Sky'.... Your personal tastes aren't really relevant.... Many people think it's a great song!!....but who cares who likes what!.... what really matters is whether it's played and sung well.
