Kelita is a long established country-tinged singer who has toured extensively and is particularly popular in her Canadian homeland. She has had her fair share of struggles in life and the pain and emotion in the songs here are real. It is also clear that Kelita knows the God who brought her from that place and now uses her to minister to others through her songs. There are hints of pop, folk, jazz, country and soul (particularly on "Soul Revival") in the lady's music and she occasionally sounds like a cross between Kendall Payne and Eve Selis while on "Unusual Child" she resembles Oleta Adams. For those who like female singer songwriters with honest heartfelt lyrics, Kelita Haverland is well worth looking into. And, as an added incentive, part of the proceeds from the sales of 'Heart Of A Woman' go to support a charity working to rescue children from the sex trade in Cambodia.
