A drop of the heavy stuff which stops short just on the friendly side of manic metal. Classy melodic rock, powerful vocals, finger-breaking guitar work and great dollops of all the other ingredients vital to a fine recording. K.T. incorporates a slice of the rootsy soul sound that's very American and often found in Mellencamp and Springsteen's music. Some nice surprises are thrown in too, like the instrumental "Midnight 'N Peru", which is fluid jazz a la Stanley Clarke, and displays Ken's top drawer status as a lead acoustic guitar flyer. Each musician Tamplin's pulled in for this session really hits the heights, but the ex-Shout maestro earns applause as a mighty powerful rocker. One of the best albums of its kind I've heard. Should you buy it? Do I have to draw pictures?
