There was a period back in the '70s when Welshman Kevin was a big fish in the small British Christian music pond. So it's a pleasure to note Kevin's return and despite giving most of his time to pastoring a church in the USA he's found time to record this set with another veteran of '70s Christian music, guitarist/producer Barry Bynum who wrinklies will tell you once played with Liberation Suite. There's a generous 16 tracks here of old school pop rock sometimes with a country tinge, sometimes with a blues feel and with one or two old hymns as well. Though Kevin's voice isn't the greatest you've ever heard when it works, like on the Dylan-style blues "King Of Kings", the effect is timeless. With the CD sporting superb packaging featuring collages of photos and memorabilia of Kevin in all his '70s glory as well the tasty little band he and Bynum assembled for this recording, CCM nostalgists will want to search this item out. And musically, as well as the aforementioned "King Of Kings", a wistful duet with Helen Wickert on the haunting "Footprints In The Sand" makes this a welcome return to music ministry for Kevin.
