Kevin's debut has caused a bit of a stir Stateside with the soulful voiced vocalist from Washington DC being nominated for a Stellar Award. His music straddles both the major African American genres, sufficiently "contemporary"(ie,with some funky R & B arrangements)to have some youth appeal and sufficiently "traditional" to recall all those soulful voiced gospel pioneers of yesteryear. The strength is Kevin's voice, from the opening semi-improvised "The Prayer" to the funky remix of "Work While It's Day" (the best cut) demonstrating how to duck and weave across songs of faith and salvation. Not R&B enough to cross over but still an impressive set.
