Reviewed by Jeremy Williams I'm not sure what to make of that current marketing craze 'Special Editions' of recently released albums. If you're new to the band you don't want to pay extra for a DVD, and if you are a fan you don't want to buy the album again to get the new stuff. Still, here we have a new edition of the Kids' successful second album, 'Apparitions Of Melody', and with My Chemical Romance bringing emocore into the limelight, the timing is good. With this edition you get a whole new track order and two new songs, "Fiction" and "Getting Over You Getting Over Me". Fortunately, these are two of the best songs KITW have ever written, the former already proving to be a bona fide hit single. On the DVD is a rather rough around the edges documentary and three music videos. "We Are" is their manifesto from their first album and there is a marked difference between their early skate-punk videos and the Tim Burtonesque gothic video for "Apparitions Of Melody". They've come a long way in a short time, their strong album is now a killer album, and so this particular example of marketing opportunism is forgiven.
