The Kids In The Way CD arrived looking very Sex Pistols, and I wondered if I was in for some punk. I was a little disappointed. Unfortunately, on display here is what Michael Pritzl would cite as a prime example of a “man voice”. The Nickleback growl of a singer who is trying too hard to sound wrought with tension and passion. The little yelps before every phrase on “Hallelujah” were almost physically painful to listen to and the Slipknot-esque throat shredding technique on “Your Knife, My Back” is certainly a matter of taste. Clearly, these boys can play and the production is top (this is Flicker Records). Hey, just stop trying so hard!
