Cynical marketing ploy or welcome introduction to an artist's work? Depends on your point of view but for me, as somebody not very familiar with Kim Hill's music, it's the latter. One of a series of mid-priced 'Signature Songs' albums, this features 10 songs dating from 1989 to 1994, with attractive enough packaging and short notes by the artist on each song, but otherwise inadequate information: nothing about what original albums the songs come from, for example, Some of the songs cry out for stronger instrumental backing (thin-sounding keyboards betraying their '80s origins?), but Kim Hill's deep rich voice always carries them.
