This young 17-year-old came to my attention supporting Sarah Masen at Portstewart's Exodus Christian Nightbase. An effortlessly pure voice, she can sound like Aretha Franklin or Sheryl Crow at will. This five track cassette showcases that voice very nicely and Kristyn's other gift is in choosing songs that suit her. Here she covers Rich Mullins, and that can never be a bad thing, with "Love Of God" and the epic "Bound To Come Some Trouble", as well as Crow's "Crooked Man" as done by Susan Ashton. Her own song "The Beat Of Your Heart' indicates that Kristyn will not always have to do covers and "Jesus Loves Me" like Whitney Houston is gorgeous. The only draw back is a rather aging band. She needs to keep that sound as young as she is. With her looks and confidence she is ready to sell, if Christian labels were interested in UK acts.
