In their promotional material, Kutless give a list of influences that reads more like the list of donors whose dismembered body parts go to make up this musical Frankenstein. The main body has been kindly donated by Staind; the similarity is to the point that people have asked me if this is Staind's new album. This is a huge compliment to the musicianship, songwriting and production of this project, but points to the need for the band to find their own sound. The lyrics, though I don't doubt their sincerity, are a little heavy on the typical Christian clichés. Having said this, there are places in this album where the band's character shows through, and this displays the huge potential that is bursting to get out. This is a great album full of great songs played with a professionalism that belies their age. I am very excited to see what this band does next.
