Cirilo creates an effective dance pop vibe on this set of songs that are lyrically direct and unmistakably Christian. There's plenty to commend this release and it's reminiscent of very early Eric Champion, there's a certain late '80s feel to the synth rhythms and arrangements here. However, LD writes some great songs! A couple of faves here, the opening cut "I Just Wanna Die" launches things with an up feel and some great sax playing. The title song is an inspirational lyric to provoke the listener to imitate Christ. The dance remake of "The Old Rugged Cross" (I'm not kidding!) and the closing version of the old chestnut "He Is Lord", complete with more sax give the album a more inspirational feel! This is an artist demonstrating his first steps on the musical journey rather than unveiling his full potential. A pleasant voice and good songwriting but hampered by run of the mill arrangements and low budget sounds and occasional cheesiness. What he could achieve with more support may never be revealed!
