A belated review for an album that kept one or two R&B gospel fans happy last year and caused one critic to describe the guys responsible as "a celibate Jodeci". We aren't given a great deal of information about La More, but my guess is they're a family group - a younger, slimmer Winans, if you like - and yet another male vocal harmony outfit a la Boyz 2 Men or newies Solo. The vocal qualities of this sort of group are getting better all the time - it's a shame that the inverse seems to be the case where the music is concerned, having been sequenced and MIDIed into blandness. The prayerful nature of many of the song lyrics is heartwarming and "Heart In My Hand" gets my vote for best track - that aside, it didn't really hold my attention for long. They're doing all the right things musically, but it just feels like something's missing. Then again, I could just be getting old.
