Only recently I was swooning over the powerful anointing of "Your Mercy Goes Much Deeper", a song Lenny wrote with Lindell Cooley. So I approached this set, recorded live at the Church Of The Apostles, Atlanta, with considerable expectation, especially as I've long enjoyed the rich warmth of veteran Lenny's voice. But somehow it failed to connect. Many of the songs seemed formulaic with the two here Lenny wrote with the Pensacola worship leader no stronger than the ones penned solo or with others. The band is good and tight with plenty of bluesy guitar runs and punchy Hammond stabs while Lenny's singing exudes laid back confidence. But I don't hear any Grade A worship classics here.
