I guess if you're 13 then calling yourself "lil" is okay but it won't be long before Williams will wonder at the wisdom of his moniker. By the time he's 16, he won't be "lil" anymore! IROCC stands for "I Rely On Christ Completely". I guess both his name and the content of this make me a little suspicious. Can't decide whether he's a kid prodigy or a precocious pain! Clearly talented in the rap department, there is an argument that he's the holy hip-hop equivalent of little Michael Jackson or alternatively a naive young man caught up in the cynical marketing mechinisms of the US industry. Either way, he is hugely helped by a team of top producers delivering something truly exciting. Apart from the excruciatingly annoying "humorous" sketches that punctuate this debut, there are some good things to enjoy. I particularly like the bouncing groove of "Lunchtime" and the collaboration of "How We Do It" which features TobyMac and Grits. Flash in the pan or serious new talent? We'll have to wait and see.
