Isle of Man-based Lindsay performs her own Celtic-tinged compositions but here shows another string to her guitar with a set of children's bible songs. This is a brave idea considering how children's albums are notoriously difficult to do well. If this was a children's service in our church it would have been a very good one. But I'm not sure that it stands up to being produced as a CD for general consumption. There are some fairly good songs written and performed by Ms Ridley but the opening track that included some guest vocals 'rapped' by some children failed to deliver. And soon there follows a disappointing rendition of "Joshua Fought The Battle Of Jericho". Nevertheless as the album progresses we do get some good songs and ones including children's vocals that are much better used such as "Far Away From Home". Despite this album's limitations 'Timeless Tales' could be a good resource for ideas of Sunday school performances but even there really needs additional backing tracks and printed lyrics to be available.
