Lisa Nicole and her producer husband Jered Evangelos have put this EP together from a store of songs that she has written over the years, recorded them in their cellar and here release them to a waiting world. The long gestation period for these songs has paid off as they sound mature and well-rounded, both lyrically and musically, with a sound that nods towards K T Tunstall and similar female singer/songwriters. Jered's discreet percussion and some fine guitar playing by Brent Schaitel with bass from Ryan Jacobson (Justin Litun on the first track) make this a very pleasant set to listen to. Lisa Nicole's lyrics are well worth a hearing and she has a tenderly expressive voice perfectly suited for this small ensemble. The opening "Irrational" is clearly inspired by the exhortation in Romans 12:2 not to conform to this world and "Just Like You" is another lyrically powerful song. With "Rosemary" and "Something Else" completing this short debut, this is a wonderful set that leaves you really wanting more. Let's hope there will be more on the way very soon.
