Local Sound have released their second EP containing five renditions of worship songs from the '90s given their trademark power pop treatment. The first track starts with a fairly straightforward working of "Angus Dei" before dropping out to an almost vocal only rendition of "The Heart Of Worship". Track two gives an up-tempo drum, '90s synth and jangly guitar workout to "I Could Sing Of Your Love Forever". "Let My Words Be Few" follows with a laidback slap synth bass backing with some interesting stop starts before an up-tempo "Open The Eyes Of My Heart" with Paul Baloche, and then closing out with a bit of a choral romp with "Shout To The Lord". The songs here have all obviously stood the test of time, and it is unlikely that you will have heard arrangements as inventive as these before. So presumably this team of Nashville-based musicians will find a niche market in the crowded modern worship arena.
