Pretty much the same formula as last time (country/blues/rock) but here we find the Dogs expanding their influences a little bit more. The Beach Boys style (what other style could they have used?) "Jesus Loves You Brian Wilson" is a cracker, while "I'm A Loser" bears more than a passing resemblance to the Beatles. Still, we could go on about the musical 'pedigree' of these four 'chums', we could 'lead' you on a musical journey of influences, we could give you 'chunk sized bits' of the lyrical brilliance, or try to convince you to buy this album for your 'pal' by trying to describe the 'biting' axe work, the 'snap' of the snare, the 'growling' rock vocals, or the mellon'collie' ballads...but you know all that! FUN...that's what these cheeky 'pups' have brought back to CCM, mixed together with the 'chops' musically and lyrically. The whole album has a raw and 'Rufff!' feel to it and, you will be glad to hear, not nearly as many doggy puns as this review. You'd be barkin' mad not to go get it... so qo on, fetch!
