With the help of a Kickstarter campaign, East London worship leader Luke Resch managed to raise enough capital to record his first EP. Luke is worship pastor at All Hallows, Bow in East London and 'Coming Home' is based around the parable of the lost son in Luke 15. It begins with a stirring string ensemble at the start of "How Long" that provides a beautiful and tender prelude, setting the scene perfectly for the yearning heart-cry for relationship with God expressed in the lyrics. The sonic signature of this song in particular is raw and authentic and is reminiscent of South African band Naked Lyric. "Coming Home" continues the prodigal son theme and is tender yet heart-wrenching, containing some interesting guitar effects and a glorious backing vocal echo near the end that adds depth and urgency. Originally intended as a five track EP, a sixth has been included simply called "Track Six" which is a time of spontaneous worship. I personally feel that this is one of Luke's strengths and I am glad it was included. The recording does lack some of the polish and production that large worship outfits can afford, however it does not detract from the heart and soul of the authentic worship being offered from a heart surrendered to God.
