This Texas-based band are going places. Firstly, there is no hiding the church/worship leaders background these five young men from Tyler have. Secondly, they are in tune with the mainstream quoting influences such as The Frey and The Killers and if the first track "Spirit Of Love" is anything to go by, Athlete and Fleet Foxes as well. This first track sets the mood of the disc rather well with lyrics exploring God being with us every step of the way. The second, "Shine" (co-written with top producer Ed Cash) has an atmospheric guitar opening and is their first US single. Then Luminate explore the more worship side of their songwriting ("My God, my God/What mercy you have shown to me/My God my God/Forever I will sing to thee"). There is not really a weak song here and you quickly get the impression that the band are stretching their wings, and are about to fly.
