Luminous are Marie Jarosiewicz, Matt and Sarah Dean and Andy Rodrigues, and all four are lay workers in the Roman Catholic Church in the London area. The object of the band's existence is to lead worship for 15 - 25 year olds at the annual New Dawn Conference held at the Shrine of Our Lady of Walsingham, in Norfolk, and they've been performing this task for the past five years. I don't know what sort of music you'd equate with those bare biographical bones, but this is 100 per cent self-penned worship music, with keyboards, guitars, bass and drums, and a generous run time of 13 tracks and just under 53 minutes. Matt has an accurate, reasonably strong voice (although Sarah's harmony vocals are a tad weak), and whilst the music is occasionally slightly naïve and repetitive, and a couple of the songs end rather suddenly, giving an unfinished feel, it can't be faulted lyrically. Production is perfectly acceptable, the mix is fine, and all the instruments are in tune. Not bad for starters, guys; you just need to polish up the vocals and songwriting.
