This 1995 collection of nine songs lasting above 40 minutes is a fine showcase of the talents of a lady with a great voice and his three guys who do the backing and some lead vocal. It's so varied in style, with soul, jazz and even reggae ("Let's Pray") and rap ("Behold", about Jesus' return) and with a joy which shows that they must have had such a good time doing it that I've written asking if there's a video of the project available. The title track is a celebration of the giving of the Commandments. There are songs of prayer, one of which, "Let's Pray", includes "street poetry" by MC Loose Cannon. The Winans were involved in writing two tracks ("Uphold Me" and "Everything You Touch Is A Song") but all other names on the album are new to me. "(He Could Have Called) Ten Thousand Angels" reflects what Jesus did for us. Perhaps my favourite track remains "The Dove Of Peace", an anthemic prayer for people's hearts to be changed, with (as on the title track) Pilgrim Baptist Church Choir, San Diego - "Tell my Father to send the angels/Dress them for honour, lead us to the light/Shower them with love from the Holy Spirit/Send them with the Dove of Peace." It's easy to be wary about "Christian entertainment" in the light of the company name marketing the album but I think I'm safe in saying that this is more than entertainment. There's a ministry dimension full of gospel truth which I've already touched on. I hope we hear a track from this on UCB.
