This powerful album opens with yet another rendering of Graham Kendrick's "Rejoice! Rejoice!" and then confidently affirms that "Jesus Christ Is Lord" - He is our mighty deliverer. Jesus Mighty God" proclaims that He is our rock, our fortress, our defence, your conquering arm will be our strength. The pace slows a little in the call "Oh, Deliver Come And Save Us". Whilst the decade old "Victory Song" revives the theme that through our God we shall do valiantly and the "Call to War" cries Summon Your Power, O God". The more reflective side two opens with the title track "We Sing Glory, Honour, Power and Strength To The Lord", and the gentler "By My Spirit" recognises that it's not by might nor by power that mountains shall be moved. Some have problems with this whole style of worship song which they find triumphalistic and an exercise in empty sloganeering. Others have problems with the whole slicker-than-slick Maranatha MOR praise machine. But for me this is not only a fine album which deftly balances smooth choral singing with inventive arrangeĀments, it is a powerful tool which deserves its subtitle as an album in 'The Spiritual Warfare Series'. You'll hear few more inspiring praise albums this year.
