Listening to this album, it strikes me that Marcos del Aguila was born just a little too late as this mix of pop melodies, superb musicianship and smooth production sounds like it stepped right out of the '70s. Marcos writes well crafted songs delivered in English with a splash of Spanish here and there. "Livng Easy", the album's opener, is a good showcase for his talents with a breezy pop tune undergoing a few twists and turns and changes in tempo. "Everybody Wants To Go To Heaven" lets his more soulful side come to the fore. "Stops My Heart" is more of a west coast style ballad and so it continues throughout the album. Notable on the album are the lead guitar parts from Joel Hoekstra which add some bite to Marcos's own acoustic playing. Elsewhere "Character" has an understated funky vibe complete with a cool horn arrangement. The album isn't so much dated as deliberately retro going back to a time when musicians played real instruments! If you like '70s American pop rock then this will appeal. And the beautiful book-like packaging is a delight.
