The full title will give you a clearer idea of what is on offer: 'The English Cathedral Series: Volume II - Victorian Organ Music From St Philip's Anglican Cathedral, Birmingham Played By Marcus Huxley'. We get five tracks by Samuel Sebastian Wesley and four by Henry Smart but do not think that this makes for a monotonous collection. Wesley in particular composed in different styles and on this CD we can hear his range from the march of the "Choral Song" to the peaceful, impressionistic "Holsworthy Church Bells". A varied collection played as well as one would expect from a musician with Huxley's training.
