According to the biography notes that accompany this release, Finnish singer/songwriter Maria Cedarholm's first full length album tackles the "different struggles and questions we might face as Christians especially when it comes to identity and living a life of faith". Whilst this is most definitely a subject matter worth singing about, an album where almost every song hones in on this theme can make for an unvaried and self-focused listen. Proceedings kick off with the piano-led "Who I'm Meant To Be" and "What Does It Mean" which set the scene for an album full of melancholic and introverted slow burners that unfortunately fail to stand out from similar songs in this already overcrowded genre. Thankfully, Cedarholm's prowess as a vocalist and songwriter shine through, together with the polished production values of Johannes Hager and each song ultimately pointing to God as the answer, to make this a competent enough listen despite its inward-looking nature. But more variety - the kind found in the upbeat "Understand The Lonely" and "Chasing The Wind" - is needed to make the most of Cedarholm's obvious talents.
