Because this is based on the Rosary and a devotion to Mary, mother of Jesus, this 2012 release from the popular British singer will be of interest only to Catholic listeners. It's very sincere and devotional, though it's not the regular Rosary - these sorrowful mysteries are the sorrows of Mary rather than those of Jesus. The first track introduces and gives some background on this version of the Rosary, a tradition that goes back the Middle Ages. After that each track features well chosen Gospel readings, touching reflections and all the Hail Marys from the Rosary, with low-key classical music in the background. At the end of some tracks there's a relevant song from Marilla Ness' back catalogue, mainly from her 'Sorrowful Woman' album. For example at the very end there's a subtle version of the familiar "Were You There". The songs are good but with only five featured and some of them just extracts (a fact that isn't made clear on the CD cover) - some purchasers will be disappointed. Considering the title it would have been more appropriate to have seven songs and definitely better value. That said, this CD could be useful as a prayer resource for individuals and groups.

Marilla Ness the UK's Leading Christian Recording Artist and devout Catholic vocalist has definitely been used by God to break down the divide between Catholic and Protestant Christians. I am one of them.
