The covering letter sent with the review copy says it all really: "The video, beautifully filmed on location in Marilla's native Ireland and at her home in Cheshire, features 12 songs taken from the highly successful 'Marilla Ness Collection'. It has a running time of approximately 55 minutes, retails at £12.99 and will be available from all Christian bookshops." And if you are a Marilla fan that is enough said. Your reviewer can confirm that the above quote is correct. Of course, whether this is of any interest to non-fans is another matter. Frankly, it is difficult to get excited about an easy listening video. Easy listening music has a place. A nice tune, professionally sung, to hum along with whilst doing something else is fine. But a video demands that you sit and watch. One cannot grumble at the scenes on view here. Indeed, the Donegal Tourist Board must be delighted with what is virtually a promotional video. But watching Marilla miming in front of some beautiful scenery is not unlike looking at a stranger's holiday snaps. So, a nice collection for Marilla fans but probably not worth £12.99 to the rest of us.
