As you should know if you’re interested in the ministry dimension of British Christian music, Marilla Ness has done brilliant work moving in the charismatic renewal in the Catholic church. Her music isn’t cool, being easy listening with a slight country tinge. But Marilla’s sweet-toned voice with simple accompaniments can bring fresh life to old hymns (“Amazing Grace”, “What A Friend We Have In Jesus”), well known worship choruses (Mark Altrogge’s “You Are Beautiful”, Don Francisco’s “God Of Comfort”) and less well known Catholic material (“Guardian Angel”, “Lady Of Knock”). Within her own, carefully thought through musical boundaries, Marilla does a sterling job.
