In her sleevenote Marilyn tells how she was challenged to "try making the carols a bit different, a bit more exciting." So maybe Marilyn's faithful legion of fans will be relieved to learn their heroine hasn't brought in grunge guitars or dub reggae into her sound though she has come up with wistful new melodies for "Away In A Manger", "Hark The Herald Angels Sing", "While Shepherds Watched" and other evergreen lyrics. With sympathetic production from Andy Green and Chris Norton bringing full focus to Marilyn's pure toned voice this is a thoroughly engaging set which will no doubt sell well in this and future Christmases.
