Mark Mallett is a "Catholic missionary" with a music ministry based out of Canada. His mission is "To re-evangelize the Catholic Church using new methods and new means", particularly contemporary music, teaching and preaching. This EP comprises six tracks - two versions of the title track (one instrumental), plus a track off each of Mallett's four full length albums. All the tracks on 'Song For Karol' are inspired by the late Pope and his teachings, and the sleevenotes give a short explanation of how each song came to be. The musical production is nothing to shout about while Mark's voice is clear and his lyrics heartfelt. But songs such as "Hiding Place" just don't go anywhere, while it's hard to sing along to the cheery "Queen Of Heaven" if your theology greatly differs.
