First impression of this concert for children was of something rather laden down with Californian mega-sweetness. However, the sheer delightful charm of Mary's songs, and the simple yet effective presentation in a quite cosy setting soon won over this old sourpuss. The music's mostly in a typical West Coast country style, toe-tapping and excellent sing along material. The mums and dads are roped in, even amounting to an on-stage chorus live of dads at one point, the small band maintains an infectious rhythm and Matilda The Gorilla makes a special guest appearance. My better half remarked "A sort of American Ishmael" but I thought it was rather good! Mary's certainly better to look at. Great fun this one, 34 minutes of good clean enjoyment, containing solid Christian truth into the bargain.
