I really agree with Vince. Matt Giles is a songsmith with huge lyrical talent. I hear A LOT of what other 'devotional' writers are putting out there, and this CD stands out on the pure strength of the songs, which is mainly down to piercingly beautiful phrasing of eloquent words. Agreed, the quality of the recording and mastering is very questionable, but the songs are the sort that nourish the soul. If anybody else has put 'indemnity' into a song this past decade, I'll eat the furry strawberries in my fridge!
I have to agree with both comments. I dont want to have a go at the reviewer, but did 'John Baugh' actually listen to the cd? And if he did, how on earth is he reviewing for Cross Rhythms? The album is anything but lyrically basic, and the songs go round in your head for days.
Absolutely awesome album. "Forever I'll proclaim the cross" blows me away with it's musical genius, and heart felt lyrics.
Matt Giles writes truly inspirational words. I think the reviewer will be eating his words in years to come
I am not saying that I don't rate this review, but who is John Baugh? Does he really think that "Redemption", "Forever", "There's No Other" and "Most Beautiful" are lyrically "basic"? When you consider what some of the big name writers are producing, I think there's little comparison.
To illustrate my point here are the words to Forever....

Who ever said it was a worship CD and which are the "songs of thanks and praise"? It's mostly an album of awe and realisation!
