It's been a while since we heard from the Hampshire band Metamorphic and although they have been through some personnel changes, the musical ideas continue to flourish. However like some of their previous recordings, the results are a little too mixed. For example the title cut here is propelled along very briskly but with sax, harmonica and guitars all through into the mix, it feels a little too muddied and muddled so what needed to be a crisp production highlighting the sing along chorus is lost in the mix. "Born Again", a blues song, ends up sounding a little better because it's slightly less busy although the lyrics are a little cliched. Some nice work though. "Such Love" and "I Worship You" are gentler, the latter an acoustic number whilst the former starts off in promising fashion but is let down by a weak lead vocal. The live recording "In The Pen" has a strong blues rock feel that indicates this is a band worth checking out live. An album is promised but the band still have plenty of work to do to knock their sound into shape.
