This is a hugely important book which I hope gets wide circulation particularly amongst the large number of people who daily go into the Cross Rhythms website to buy the latest album from Hillsong, Redman, Hughes, et al. Because although carrying a simple message - that worship should infuse all areas of our lives and then that should naturally (or I should say supernaturally) lead us into evangelism and practisers of social justice. In a church culture where some parts of the Church have effectively made worship an end in itself - a kind of spiritual panacea to produce feelings of self worth and specialness for those who enthusiastically practise it - the founder of Soul Survivor brings a salient reminder to all of us who true intimacy with God will have a radical, and on occasions sacrificial, outworking in our lives. The chapters are brief and colourfully written: Part 1, Worship taking in The Worship God Requires and Worship As A Lifestyle; Part 2, Evangelism explaining Why Evangelise? and Jesus' Strategy and Part 3, Justice examining God's Heart For Justice and What Can I Do? In such a brief volume (142 pages) Mike clearly can only give a general overview and it's a shame he didn't address the thorny topic of how evangelicals are to interact with the ultra reformed part of the Church who engage in evangelism with little or no experience of supernaturally charged worship or the liberal/neo orthodox church-going community who undertake numerous social justice crusades driven more by humanism than worship. But this is still a vital reminder as to where the Church needs to be heading.

Product Description

We know that Worship is much more than singing songs to God. Dont we?

Loving the Lord our God with all our hearts, strength, mind and understanding is our highest priority. But can we do that without following the second commandment to love our neighbours as ourselves?

This book looks at what happens when we let Worship infuse all areas of our lives, what Evangelism looks like in today's culture, and what God's passion for Justice means for us in a broken and hurting world. God holds all three close to his heart: if we bring them back together, could we regain the lost voice of the church?
