"It was Christmas night on a battleground/Every weary man lay his rifle down/Through the burning mist you could hear the sound/Of a carol sung on a battleground." So begins this artful musical depiction of that famous event in the 1st World War when hostilities momentarily stopped on Christmas Day and German and British soldiers enjoyed a football match together. The song was co-written and co-produced by CCM veteran Chris Eaton and the RAF Spitfires Choir, Chris' wife Abby Scott and BBC Radio 2's Young Chorister finalist William Inscoe all add their considerable talents to make this single a moving piece of musical theatre. All profits from sales of the project will be going to three military charities.
