Every home should have a copy of Mozart's Requiem but is this the one to buy? The recording was made in Lisbon in 1975 and all concerned give competent performances. As a budget reissue costs have been saved in the presentation. Notes are minimal and leave us none the wiser concerning the background of the work. Neither are any words printed, either of the original text or in translation. Total timing is under one hour so there should have been room for something extra on the disc. Worth hearing but perhaps not worth buying.
