The Mt Calvary Mass Choir originate from the Mt Calvary Missionary Baptist Church in Jacksonville, Florida. This album was cut in 1997 and it's fairly run-of-the-mill stuff by and large, and truth be told, nowhere near the standard set by such outfits as The Thompsons, O'Landa Draper & The Associates and even the "other" Mount Calvary choir (who come from Youngstoun, Ohio). There's a distinct lack of atmosphere in this album, the songs are on the ordinary side, one or two of the soloists have more enthusiasm than technique, and those with technique can't hit the notes. If you're in the market for gospel choir music, there are many better releases than this one out there.
