This box set of three DVDs contains about six hours of material continuing on from the beginners box set. But actually, at least one and a half hours is directly repeated from the previous set, including the 25 minute hand percussion lesson. That could be a very good thing for a drummer who is already at intermediate level: he needn't feel like he has missed out by not working through the beginners course. But for the drummer who has already worked through the beginners course and is now advancing, it would be quite a disappointment. One key new topic here is that of kick drum pedal technique, found on the volume 1 DVD. It offers valuable advice on improving timing and speed. The limb independence lesson on DVD 2 is also good fun. And there is some great sticking advice to get the student playing smoother and faster. Again the main teacher Colin Brookes is friendly and relaxed, with a clear and precise presentation style. And again Martin Neil offers some of the most thoughtful and encouraging advice for using drums and percussion in worship that this reviewer has ever come across. Shame the video quality of some of the interviews is quite poor, with a lot of background noise. Even so, just about every drummer in every church would benefit in some way from working through this resource.
