Clear of excess technicality, MCMB have produced a full bore aural assault for their debut album. Hailing from Madison, North Alabama, MCMB are a recent addition to the Solid State label, home of the likes of Norma Jean whose influences can be heard in this recording. The album opens with one of the stronger tracks "Faithless". It features a pummel of twin guitars and double basses to drive the song along. Over the top of this solid musical base is Matthew Hasting's almost death metal growl. The closing track "Choke" also provides a highlight with more musical variety showcasing the band's writing skills. The production is not muddy or over noisy and the overall sound of the album is polished thanks the mix provided by Adam D (Killswitch Engage). Lyrically MCMB have a positive outlook in the majority of their tracks and although their Christian viewpoint is included, it is sometimes difficult to spot. The greatest problem I found listening to 'Unbreakable' was the lack of variety in the vocal performance. Hastings keeps a constant tone throughout the songs which can tend to cause them to merge together. For this reason, although the album has its strong points and is worth a listen, it does not rise above the masses.
