If you're a regular visitor to Devon's Creation Fest you'll know Narrowpath, who've emerged from the surf culture of Newquay and have finally made it onto CD. This is a pretty impressive introduction to the band, who feature three guitarists, a bassist, a drummer and two vocalists. Their style is mainstream rock and is easily accessible to the masses. The four tracks on here are very different from each other, yet they work well together. The song "Source" opens with a bluesy, over-driven guitar riff. This is then met by a funky upbeat drum rhythm which really drives the song. A different aspect of Narrowpath's musical output is the song "Chasing". It opens with a chord-based acoustic rhythm quite reminiscent of big time acoustic-based songs by Christian artists like Matt Redman and Tim Hughes and with the line "All those hours surfing, searching" before moving on to syncopated percussion and a tasty guitar riff, this is a very relaxed and pleasing track. An excellent first CD from a gifted band.
