Sub-titled ‘Songs From The New Life Christian Fellowship Kingston upon Hull Volume 2’, this 10 track CD features Jarrod Cooper, Paul Hemingway and the Days Of Wonder Band, one of the members of which is a certain Mr Gareth Gates, who I recall did rather well recently in some TV show called Pop Stars. The CD itself is a mixture of studio and live cuts, eight of which were written or co-written by Jarrod, one of the others being a very accomplished cover of Godfrey Birtill’s recent festival favourite "Carrying You". Production and engineering is in the capable hands of Colin Owen and Tim Kemp, which ensures that the quality of the live cuts is as good as the studio ones (which is very good), and the songs have a melodic and lyrical simplicity without being simplistic and cliched. Definitely worthy of your attention.
