It would appear to me that this "children's album" (though nowhere is it termed such) is aimed to appeal also to young people of a wider age range. Sounding at times more like a Hillsong Youth recording, 'God Is Good' is an upbeat, high energy set of mainly contemporary pop/rock worship songs that bring in a range of other music styles, including pop, R&B, rap and acoustic. While some are very well-known (Tim Hughes "Jesus Saves"; Gungor/Houghton "Friend Of God", etc), others are totally fresh and penned by writers such as Jon Bonner, Damian Herbert, Gareth Matthews and Simon Parry. The latter two writers also appear as among the six lead vocalists; others being Samuel & Rebekah Cox, Jerry Javis and Tracy Raggart. There's some terrifically infectious tunes on offer, not least the opening "Unstoppable Love" and "Giant Of Faith". The stripped down and more ponderous, though no less passionate (than the original) take on "Jesus Saves" works well, too. Excellent instrumentation along with great production from Mark Edwards ensures top overall quality and a truly passionate praise feel to this energetic 12 song offering.
