On first hearing this album I made the mistake of thinking that the boys from Dunfermline were just another rock band. Certainly Nightlight's earlier tracks didn't seem to offer anything spectacular on the surface but mixed in with the typical indie rock were moments of brilliance that made the songs shine. The title/opening track is an excellent example of this. It has a basic structure but features some incredible drumming, dramatic guitars and a stunning vocal harmony. "Answered Call" is equally simple but beautiful with its catchy chorus and dynamic music. The later part of the album offers something different. "Psalm 51" is a beautiful number which has a gentle and hopeful tone, which allows the listener to relax. It's also an excellent example of the band's ability to layer the music as the dynamics and style change through the music. The album closes with Nightlight's rendition of "How Great Thou Art" which highlights the rich vocals of Duncan Gemmell who sings the classic hymn in English then in Swedish. A strong debut album.
